Krzysztof J. Cios
Also known as Krys Cios
Krzysztof Cios is a computer scientist whose research spans machine learning, data mining and biomedical informatics. Born in Dębica in 1950, he earned degrees at AGH University, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Toledo, then worked at Toledo and the University of Colorado Denver before joining Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007. His 1998 and 2007 books explain data-mining methods and frame the field through knowledge discovery. At VCU, he chaired computer science as the university announced a joint doctoral program with the University of Córdoba. He became an AIMBE Fellow in 2017 and an IEEE Fellow in 2020, and he is a professor emeritus in VCU computer science.
