Yann Fleureau
Yann Fleureau is a French engineer and entrepreneur who has built AI companies in cardiology, mathematics and cell biology. He co-founded Cardiologs in 2014, a Paris company whose cloud software reads electrocardiograms with deep learning, was named to MIT Technology Review's Innovators Under 35 Europe in 2018, and signed an agreement to sell the company to Philips in 2021. In late 2023, he helped found the non-profit Numina, whose NuminaMath 7B TIR model won the first AIMO Progress Prize in 2024, and XTX Markets gave the project a €3 million grant in December 2024. Since 2025, he is co-founder and CEO of Rivercell, a Paris company that raised a $25 million seed round in October 2026 to build an AI model of how human cells respond to drugs.
Timeline
-
2014
Co-founding Cardiologs
A French engineer, he co-founds Cardiologs in 2014, a medtech company headquartered in Paris whose cloud-based software uses deep learning to analyze electrocardiograms. He leads it as co-founder and CEO.
-
2018
MIT Innovators Under 35 Europe
MIT Technology Review names him one of its Innovators Under 35 Europe in 2018 for the cloud-based AI platform at Cardiologs that analyzes ECGs. He is also selected among the 35 laureates as BNP Paribas European Innovator of the Year.
-
2021
Cardiologs joins Philips
In November 2021, Royal Philips signs an agreement to acquire Cardiologs, a France-based company that applies AI and cloud technology to cardiac diagnostics. As co-founder and CEO, he says the company will keep its vendor neutrality and continue to work with third-party vendors.
-
2023
Co-founding Numina
In late 2023, with initial support from Mistral AI, he helps found Numina, an open AI-for-mathematics initiative, together with Jia Li, Guillaume Lample, Stan Polu and Hélène Evain. Numina is a non-profit organization built on open-source principles.
-
2024
First AIMO Progress Prize
Numina, the group he co-founded, wins the first AIMO Progress Prize in July 2024, and its NuminaMath 7B TIR model solves 29 of the 50 problems on the private test set. He says that gathering a dataset of more than 800,000 competition-level problems and solutions was a key success factor, and Numina releases it to the public.
-
December 2024
A €3 million XTX grant
In December 2024, XTX Markets gives the non-profit Project Numina a €3 million grant to publicly release up to 1 million formal mathematical problems and proofs. As co-founder and President of Numina, he says the support will let Numina release datasets and AI models for mathematical reasoning.
-
May 2025
Talk on AI theorem proving
In May 2025, he gives the talk "Project Numina and AI for Theorem Proving" at the workshop Mathematics for and by Large Language Models in Bures-sur-Yvette, France. He presents Numina's work, including KiminaProver, its formal math prover.
-
Since 2025
Founding Rivercell
He starts Rivercell in 2025, a Paris company that builds an AI model of how human cells respond to drugs and genetic changes, and serves as its co-founder and CEO. In October 2026, Rivercell announces a $25 million seed round led by HV to fund its data platform, a larger Paris wet lab and its AI Virtual Cell program.
