Mario de Jesús Pérez Jiménez
Also known as Mario J. Pérez-Jiménez
Professor Mario de Jesús Pérez Jiménez was a mathematician whose work connected computational complexity with natural computing and membrane computing. He earned mathematics degrees in Barcelona and Seville, held university posts in Barcelona, Seville and Wuhan, and became a full professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Seville in 2009. At Seville, he founded the Research Group on Natural Computing, received an award for membrane computing and the FAMA research prize, and joined Academia Europaea. He became an emeritus professor and honorary researcher, coauthored work on virus machines, and died in 2025.
