Yuval Elovici
Also known as יובל אלוביץ
Yuval Elovici is a professor at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev who applies machine learning to malware detection, network intrusion, and the security of AI systems. A B.Sc. in 1989 and an M.Sc. in 1991 in computer and electrical engineering from Ben-Gurion University were followed by a Ph.D. in information systems from Tel Aviv University and a full professorship in 2012; he was born in Beer-Sheva in 1966. He has directed Telekom Innovation Laboratories since 2005 and the Cyber Security Research Center since 2014, and in 2014 he co-founded Morphisec, a start-up company that develops cyber security mechanisms related to moving target defense. In November 2021 he headed a Fujitsu center on security for AI systems, and in 2026 he is head of the cyber center during a Boeing collaboration on aviation cybersecurity that uses the latest AI developments.

In 2000 he becomes a lecturer in information systems engineering, and in 2012 he becomes a full professor.
-
Since 2005
Machine learning for malware
Since 2005 he directs Telekom Innovation Laboratories at Ben-Gurion University. As director of the laboratories, he develops machine-learning methods for detecting whether a suspected file is malicious or benign.
-
2014
Morphisec and a research center
In 2014 he co-founds Morphisec, a start-up company that develops cyber security mechanisms related to moving target defense, and he serves as director of Ben-Gurion University’s Cyber Security Research Center.

2018
The Kitsune detector
In 2018 Kitsune appears at the Network and Distributed Systems Security Symposium, with Yisroel Mirsky, Tomer Doitshman, Yuval Elovici, and Asaf Shabtai as authors. Its core algorithm, KitNET, uses an ensemble of neural networks called autoencoders to differentiate between normal and abnormal traffic patterns.
-
2019
CT-GAN medical image attacks
In 2019 Yisroel Mirsky, Tom Mahler, Ilan Shelef, and Yuval Elovici present CT-GAN at the USENIX Security Symposium. The paper shows how deep learning can add or remove evidence of medical conditions from 3D medical scans.
-
November 2021
Fujitsu center for secure AI
In November 2021 he heads the Fujitsu Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Israel under a three-year agreement to develop security technologies for AI-based systems. He is head of Ben-Gurion University’s Cyber Security Research Center.
-
February 2026
A Boeing aviation partnership
In February 2026 he is head of Ben-Gurion University’s Cyber Security Research Center. Boeing and the university have a five-year agreement, valued at over USD 10 million, on cybersecurity for aviation and space systems, and the collaboration applies the latest AI developments to new security capabilities for future aviation technologies.
