Sayan Chakraborty

Sayan Chakraborty is a technology executive whose career connects enterprise AI, analytics software, and AI policy. He began at NASA/JPL, earned aerospace engineering degrees at MIT, and moved through technology startups and Oracle leadership before joining Workday in 2015. Workday acquired GridCraft, the AI/ML analytics company he co-founded and ran as COO, in 2015; he became EVP of Product and Technology in 2021 and co-president in 2023. He joined NAIAC in 2022, where the committee advises the president and the National AI Initiative Office on AI. After leaving Workday in 2025, he joined TransUnion’s board in January 2026 and serves as a director.

  1. By 2015

    From NASA/JPL to Oracle

    Before he joins Workday in 2015, he begins his career as an engineer on interplanetary spacecraft at NASA/JPL and works on GPS commercialization; he earns aerospace engineering degrees at MIT and holds technology startup and Oracle leadership roles.

  2. 2015

    Joining Workday through GridCraft

    He joins Workday through its 2015 acquisition of GridCraft, the AI/ML analytics company he co-founds and leads as chief operating officer.

  3. October 2021

    Leading product and technology

    In October 2021, Workday appoints him executive vice president of Product and Technology, expanding his remit to include Product Development.

  4. April 2022

    Joining the AI advisory committee

    In April 2022, the Commerce Department appoints him to the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee; NAIAC advises the president and National AI Initiative Office on AI issues.

  5. February 2023

    Becoming Workday co-president

    In February 2023, Workday names him co-president; he continues to lead its Product and Technology organization as the company invests in AI and machine learning.

  6. March 2025

    Leaving Workday

    He retires from Workday as president of Product and Technology in March 2025, after holding the role since December 2024.

  7. Since January 2026

    Serving on TransUnion’s board

    He joins TransUnion’s board in January 2026 and serves as a director.
