Wei Wang
Wei Wang is a professor of computer science at UCLA whose research includes data mining, machine learning, computational biology, and AI for science. She completed a computer-science doctorate at UCLA in 1999, worked at the IBM Watson Research Center from 1999 to 2002, and served on the computer science faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2002 to 2012. ACM elected her a Fellow in 2020 for contributions to the foundation and practice of data mining, and the IEEE selected her as a Fellow for contributions to data mining in 2023. She directs the Scalable Analytics Institute, holds the Leonard Kleinrock Term Chair, and chairs the UCLA Samueli Computer Science Department, a post that began in July 2025. In 2026 she received the SIGKDD Innovation Award and leads ALPHA, a DARPA project on formal proof synthesis.
