Jianhuang Lai
Also known as Jian-Huang Lai, 赖剑煌
Jianhuang Lai is a computer vision and pattern recognition researcher whose work spans linear discriminant analysis and cross-camera person re-identification. He earned an M.Sc. in applied mathematics in 1989 and a mathematics Ph.D. in 1999 at Sun Yat-sen University, where he joined the faculty in 1989, became a professor in the Department of Automation by September 2010, and served as dean of the School of Information Science and Technology by May 2014. His person re-identification research introduced the SYSU-MM01 RGB-infrared dataset in 2017, a view-specific deep network framework in March 2018, and a camera-aware similarity consistency loss at ICCV in 2019. In 2019, he received the 15th Ding Ying Technology Award while serving as Deputy Director of CCF-CV and was named to the first fellow list of the China Society of Image and Graphics. A vice president of the China Society of Image and Graphics in May 2025, he is a professor at Sun Yat-sen University's School of Computer Science and is affiliated with its Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems as of October 2026.
