Yael Moses
Yael Moses is a computer vision researcher whose work spans face recognition, multi-camera tracking, photo sequencing and AI-based visual perception. She earned a PhD in computer science at the Weizmann Institute, completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Oxford's Robotics group, and joined the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya's computer science school in 1999. Her career includes a Sydney sabbatical from 2004 to 2007, work on dense crowd tracking and photo sequencing, and a 2025 duet-dancing paper; she also served as an ICCV 2025 Broadening Participation Chair. As of October 2026, she researches computer vision at Reichman University; in 2023, she was a faculty member there, and in 2026 she coauthored an AI study of cloud pareidolia.

Timeline
-
1993–1994
PhD and face recognition
She earns a PhD in computer science at the Weizmann Institute in 1994 and works as a postdoctoral fellow in Oxford University's Robotics group from 1993 to 1994. In 1994, she coauthors ‘Face recognition: The problem of compensating for changes in illumination direction,’ which compares differences between images of the same face under different imaging conditions with differences between distinct faces.
-
1999
Joining the Interdisciplinary Center
She joins the school of computer science at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, in 1999.
-
2004–2007
A Sydney sabbatical
She spends 2004 to 2007 on sabbatical in Sydney at NICTA and UNSW.
-
2010–2013
Crowd tracking and photo sequencing
In 2010, she coauthors ‘Tracking in a Dense Crowd Using Multiple Cameras,’ which combines views from several cameras and uses height information for head segmentation. At ICCV 2013, she coauthors ‘Space-Time Tradeoffs in Photo Sequencing,’ which recovers the order of still images of a dynamic event from uncalibrated cameras.
-
July 2023
Faculty at Reichman University
In July 2023, she is a faculty member at Reichman University with research interests in computer vision.
-
2025
A duet-dancing paper
In 2025, she coauthors ‘Duet Dancing from a Solo Dance Video’ with Yarin Moshe and Ariel Shamir. At ICCV 2025, she serves as a Broadening Participation Chair.
-
2026
Animal shapes in clouds
In 2026, she coauthors ‘Diamonds in the Sky: Pareidolic Animals in Clouds,’ an AI method to predict which animals people are likely to perceive in clouds. It uses a diffusion model to turn cloud segments into animal shapes that help people perceive specific animals.
-
As of October 2026
