Andreas Köpf

Also known as Andreas Kopf

Andreas Köpf is an AI builder whose work spans PyTorch, open language-model projects and robot learning. He began at PROVISIO in 1998, served as a software engineer, chief software architect and CEO/Managing Partner for over twenty years, and founded robotics and computer-vision startup Xamla in 2014. He co-authored the PyTorch paper in 2019 and co-founded OpenAssistant, co-authoring its 2023 language-model alignment paper. His 2024 GPU Mode lecture covered Ring Attention, and Reasoning Gym received a NeurIPS Spotlight in 2025. As of October 2026, he leads Open-Thought and co-founds Roboteur, a Münster robotics startup building a two-armed household robot that learns from human demonstrations.
