Yudong Zhang

Yudong Zhang develops deep learning methods for medical images, including chest CT analysis. He completed degrees at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2004 and 2007, then a Ph.D. in signal and information processing at Southeast University in 2010. From 2010 to 2012 he did postdoctoral research at Columbia University, served as a full professor at Nanjing Normal University from 2013 to 2017, where he founded the Advanced Medical Image Processing Group, and held a Leicester professorship in knowledge discovery and machine learning from 2017 to 2024. In April 2023 he and Shuihua Wang received Elsevier's 2022 Best Paper Award for Information Fusion for software that diagnoses Covid-19 from chest CT scans at 97.14% accuracy. Since 2024 he is a full professor at Southeast University.
