Researcher

David Harwood

David Harwood is a computer vision researcher whose work spans texture classification, human and vehicle detection, and people tracking. He coauthored early papers on texture measures and center-symmetric auto-correlation, then applied partial least squares to human and vehicle detection. In 2013, he coauthored a paper on tracking people's hands and feet. He is a Faculty Research Assistant at the University of Maryland's Computer Vision Laboratory.

    Texture measures with Kullback

In 1994, he coauthors a paper with Timo Ojala and Matti Pietikäinen that evaluates texture measures through Kullback discrimination of distributions.

  2. 1995

    Center-symmetric texture classification

He coauthors a 1995 texture-classification paper with Timo Ojala, Matti Pietikäinen, Shalom Kelman and Larry S. Davis, using center-symmetric auto-correlation and Kullback discrimination.

    Comparing texture measures

In 1996, he coauthors a comparative study of texture measures with Timo Ojala and Matti Pietikäinen.

  4. 2009

    Human detection with PLS

In 2009, he coauthors a human-detection paper with William Robson Schwartz, Aniruddha Kembhavi and Larry S. Davis that uses partial least squares analysis.
