Alexander Gammerman
Also known as Alex Gammerman
Alexander Gammerman is a machine-learning researcher whose work includes conformal prediction. He held research posts in St Petersburg and Edinburgh, then took a computer-science chair at Royal Holloway and became co-director of its Centre for Machine Learning. With Craig Saunders and Vladimir Vovk, he presented a confidence-and-credibility paper at IJCAI in 1999 and coauthored Algorithmic Learning in a Random World with Vovk and Glenn Shafer in 2005. He received an Amazon Research Award in 2020 for conformal martingales, studied conformal change detection in 2025, and is a professor of computer science at Royal Holloway as of October 2026.
