Anne-Marie Kermarrec
Anne-Marie Kermarrec studies large-scale distributed systems and system support for machine learning. She co-authored Epidemic Learning, a paper on decentralized learning in the NeurIPS 2023 proceedings. After a PhD at the University of Rennes 1 in 1996, she worked at Microsoft Research and then at Inria, and she founded the startup Mediego in 2015. She received an ACM Fellowship in 2016 and the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 2019, and she was elected to the French Academy of Sciences and named an ELLIS Fellow in 2024. As of October 2026, she is a Full Professor at EPFL, where she leads the Scalable Computing Systems Laboratory.
