Bo Zhang

Bo Zhang is a Tsinghua AI researcher whose work spans fuzzy reasoning, supervised topic models and diffusion. He graduated in automatic control at Tsinghua in 1958 and visited the University of Illinois from 1980 to 1982. In 1995, he became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and received a Third Class National Natural Science Award; in 2011, the University of Hamburg awarded him an honorary doctorate in natural science. He coauthored a fuzzy-reasoning paper in 2005, a supervised topic model in 2014, Triple-GAN in 2017 and Analytic-DPM in 2022. As of October 2026, he advises Tsinghua's Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education.

    Topic models and Triple-GAN

    In 2014, he coauthors Gibbs Max-margin Topic Models with Data Augmentation for classification, regression and multi-task learning. In 2017, he coauthors Triple Generative Adversarial Nets, a model with a generator, a discriminator and a classifier.

    Analytic-DPM earns an ICLR award

    He coauthors Analytic-DPM, a training-free inference framework for diffusion probabilistic models. ICLR lists it as an Outstanding Paper in 2022.
