Guoying Zhao
Zhao earned a computer-science PhD from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005 and was an Oulu senior researcher from 2005 to 2007. Her work centers on visual representation and behavior analysis. She held an Academy research fellowship from 2011 to 2017 and became a full professor at Oulu in 2017. Her research covers facial expressions, micro-expressions and motion analysis. She worked on the MiGA project from September 2018 to August 2022, applying machine learning to micro-gesture analysis. It is one part of a broader research program on visual human communication.
