Wang Xiaochuan
Also known as 王小川
Wang Xiaochuan is an AI lab founder whose Baichuan work spans open language models and medical AI. He won the 1996 International Olympiad in Informatics gold medal, then launched Sogou Search and created its input method. Sogou became independent in 2010; Wang was its CEO by 2017 and left that role in 2021. In 2023, he co-founded Baichuan, which released open Baichuan2 models. TIME included him in its 2024 list of 100 influential figures in AI.

A medal in informatics
He won a gold medal at the Eighth International Olympiad in Informatics.

Search meets a new keyboard
He launched Sogou Search in 2004 and invented the Sogou intelligent Input Method in 2006.

Leading Sogou through change
Sogou became an independent operation in 2010. By 2017, Wang was its CEO, and he resigned from the role in 2021.
