Varun Mayya

Varun Mayya is an entrepreneur who builds AI products for online content and creator services. He graduated as a computer science engineer from Manipal Institute of Technology, started Jobspire and Avalon, then co-founded Aeos with Achina Mayya. He released God In A Box, a GPT-3.5 WhatsApp service, and relaunched CTRHero as AlphaCTR, an AI thumbnail generator; with Achina Sirohi Mayya, he co-authored The Content Creator Handbook. As of October 2026, he is founder and CEO of Aeos, where Aeos Labs builds generative AI tools and avatars for media.

  1. By 2017

    Jobspire and first company

    Mayya starts coding at 11 and launches Aftershock Entertainment, his first company, at 16. While studying computer science at Manipal Institute of Technology, he starts Jobspire in August 2014 with Mohak Dhingra, Kartik Luke Singh, and Sandesh Kini, then graduates as a computer science engineer. Jobspire raises $262,000 in 2015 and serves four million requests in 2016; the team sells it in 2017 to a New York-based company.

  2. 2017–2022

    Avalon and Scenes

    With Shashank Udupa and Abhinav Arora, he starts Avalon in 2017; Avalon Labs serves Fortune 500 companies and funded startups, and Avalon Meta grows into a digital university with a 50,000-person Discord community. In March 2021, he launches Scenes, a community platform for people to find and discuss interest groups, with Udupa, Arora, and Tejas Tholpadi. By 2022, he is the author of Pyjama Profit, a guide to online freelancing.

  3. 2022

    Aeos and God In A Box

    He and Achina Mayya co-found Aeos in 2022 as a Bengaluru-based parent company. In December 2022, he releases the beta of God In A Box, a GPT-3.5 service for WhatsApp.

  4. June 2023–August 2023

    Relaunching AlphaCTR

    In June 2023, he acquires CTRHero and relaunches it as AlphaCTR, an AI thumbnail generator; by August 2023, it has 30,000 sign-ups. His channel Overpowered, co-hosted with Tanmay Bhat, uses AI-generated thumbnails and has more than 100,000 subscribers.

  5. November 2024

    The Content Creator Handbook

    With Achina Sirohi Mayya, he co-authors The Content Creator Handbook, published by Ebury Press in November 2024; it covers content strategy, platform algorithms, audience engagement, and monetization.

  6. 2025–2026

    Scaling Aeos Labs

    By September 2025, Aeos has more than 500 staff, generates over 400 million organic views per month, and operates without external funding; it uses proprietary generative AI automation to produce content at scale. In 2025–2026, the more than 25-person Aeos Labs team builds a custom Wan 2.1 avatar engine for his digital avatar, an AI face-inpainting tool, and VideoVault, an on-premise GitHub for video.

    Founder and CEO of Aeos

    As of October 2026, he is founder and CEO of Aeos. Aeos Labs builds generative AI tools and AI avatars for content. In October 2026, he joins Tanmay Bhat and Rajdeepak Das on an ElevenLabs Summit panel about AI in media and marketing.
