Researcher

Jun Zhang

Jun Zhang is a computational-intelligence researcher whose work applies evolutionary computation to optimization. He earned a PhD in electrical engineering from City University of Hong Kong in 2002 and held a research fellowship at KAIST from 2003 to 2004. He joined Sun Yat-Sen University in 2004, received the First-Grade Award in Natural Science Research from China’s Ministry of Education in 2009 and the China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists in 2011, and was a Cheung Kong Professor by 2014. He coauthored a 2023 framework that combines artificial-neural-network learning with evolutionary computation. As of October 2026, he is a full professor at Hanyang University and advises its Computational Intelligence Lab.
