Researcher

Guo-Jun Qi

Also known as G. J. QI, G. J. Qi, G.-J. Qi, G.J. Qi

Guo-Jun Qi is a computer-vision and multimedia researcher whose work includes video annotation and generative adversarial networks. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering at USTC in 2005, a Master of Engineering there in 2009, and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering at UIUC in 2013. His 2007 ACM Multimedia paper won the Best Full Technical Paper award, and his 2008 temporal-kernel work modeled relationships among video concepts. At UCF, he researched computer vision, pattern recognition and multimedia and held technical leadership roles at Huawei; ACM named him a Distinguished Member in 2021, and IAPR elected him a Fellow in 2022. As of October 2026, he is a faculty member at Westlake University’s School of Engineering.
