Preslav Nakov

Also known as Preslav Ivanov Nakov

Preslav Nakov is a professor and department chair of natural language processing at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. His research interests include disinformation, propaganda and fact checking. He completed a PhD in computer science at UC Berkeley in 2007, with a thesis on using the Web as an implicit training set. From 2008 to 2011 he worked as a research fellow at the National University of Singapore, and from 2012 to 2022 he was a principal research scientist at the Qatar Computing Research Institute. In 2003 he became the first winner of Bulgaria's presidential John Atanasoff Award, and in 2018 he co-authored a study on predicting the factuality of reporting and bias of news media sources.
