Juergen Branke
Juergen Branke is an operations researcher whose work connects evolutionary algorithms with dynamic optimization and multiobjective decision-making. After earning a PhD and Habilitation at the University of Karlsruhe, he co-organized a Dagstuhl seminar in November 2004, co-edited a multiobjective volume in 2008, and joined Warwick Business School in 2009. His 2015 paper with Torsten Hildebrandt and Bernd Scholz-Reiter compared evolutionary dispatching-rule representations for manufacturing schedules. In December 2022, he co-edited Volume 2, Issue 4 of ACM Transactions on Evolutionary Learning and Optimization; he is the journal's founding editor and Editor-in-Chief. In 2026, he held a Programme Chair / Co-Chair role for the Congress on Evolutionary Computation and became an IEEE Fellow; as of October 2026, he is Professor of Operational Research & Systems in Warwick Business School's ISM-Analytics Group.
