Alexandre Drouin
Alexandre Drouin is a computer scientist whose AI research spans genomic biomarker discovery, causal methods, probabilistic forecasting and enterprise agents. He earned degrees in computer science and artificial intelligence at Laval University and developed machine-learning algorithms for biomarker discovery in genomic data related to antibiotic resistance. He coauthored studies of gesture recognition and causal discovery, the TACTiS and Lag-Llama time-series forecasting models, and web-agent benchmarks from WorkArena to DRBench. As of October 2026, he heads Frontier AI Research at ServiceNow, is an adjunct professor at Laval University and an associate industry member at Mila, and chairs the NeurIPS 2026 Evaluations and Datasets Track.

Timeline
-
2012–2014
Degrees at Laval University
He earns a BSc in Computer Science at Laval University in 2012 and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence there in 2014.
-
2018
Hand-gesture recognition
In January 2018, he coauthors a study that applies transfer learning to electromyography signals aggregated across multiple users for hand-gesture recognition.
-
2019
PhD in biomarker discovery
He completes a PhD in Computer Science at Laval University in 2019 under François Laviolette. His doctoral work develops machine-learning algorithms for biomarker discovery in large genomic datasets and their application to antibiotic resistance.
-
2020
Causal discovery with interventions
In 2020, he coauthors a neural-network method that uses interventional data to learn causal directed acyclic graphs.
-
2022
TACTiS forecasts time series
In 2022, he coauthors TACTiS, a transformer model for joint probabilistic forecasting of multivariate time series that scales to hundreds of series and handles irregular sampling and missing data.
-
2023
Lag-Llama forecasting model
In 2023, he coauthors Lag-Llama, a decoder-only transformer foundation model for univariate probabilistic time-series forecasting.
-
2024
WorkArena and BrowserGym
In 2024, he coauthors WorkArena, a benchmark of 33 tasks for agents using web browsers to complete enterprise software work, and introduces BrowserGym, an environment for designing and evaluating such agents.
-
As of October 2026
Head of Frontier AI Research
In 2025, he coauthors DRBench, a benchmark for evaluating AI agents on complex, open-ended deep research tasks in enterprise settings. As of October 2026, he heads Frontier AI Research at ServiceNow and leads a team studying enterprise agents, data analytics and decision-making. He is an adjunct professor of computer science at Laval University, an associate industry member at Mila, and an Evaluations and Datasets Track chair for NeurIPS 2026.
