Bastian Rieck
Rieck earned a mathematics master’s and a computer-science PhD from Heidelberg. He previously worked as a senior assistant in ETH Zürich’s Machine Learning and Computational Biology Lab. His research covers topological data analysis, geometric deep learning and methods that add topological information to neural networks. These methods study structures such as connected components and cycles in data. Rieck is a machine-learning professor at Fribourg and leads AIDOS. The HOLES research program studies higher-order learning with geometry and topology. Rieck also holds a secondary Helmholtz Munich appointment.
