Sasha Luccioni
Also known as Alexandra Sasha Luccioni
Sasha Luccioni is a researcher who measures how much carbon AI systems produce. After studying language science at Sorbonne Nouvelle, she works at Nuance and at Morgan Stanley, and she holds a PhD in cognitive computing from UQAM. She becomes a postdoctoral researcher at Université de Montréal and Mila in 2019, then joins Hugging Face as a research scientist in 2021. Her 2023 BLOOM study puts the model's final training at 50.5 tonnes of CO2eq, and TIME100 AI lists her in 2024. In May 2026 she is co-founder and chief scientific officer of Sustainable AI Group, a research and advisory firm.
