Shengxiang Yang
Also known as S. Yang
Shengxiang Yang is a professor of computational intelligence at De Montfort University, where his research centers on evolutionary computation for dynamic and multi-objective optimization problems. His PhD at Northeastern University in China, completed in 1999, focused on a constraint satisfaction adaptive neural network for job-shop scheduling. From 2000 to 2010, he was a lecturer at the University of Leicester, and in July 2012 he joined De Montfort University. Among his service roles, he chaired the IEEE CIS task force on evolutionary computation in dynamic and uncertain environments, and in March 2007 Springer published a volume on that subject that he co-edited. In January 2026, he was elevated to IEEE Fellow, and he heads the Innovative Artificial Intelligence Research Cluster.
