Researcher

Florian Marquardt

Marquardt completed doctoral work in Basel through 2002, later held research and university positions at Yale, Munich and Erlangen. He became a Max Planck scientific director in 2016. Marquardt wrote lecture notes explaining neural learning for quantum devices. They cover backpropagation, autoencoders, reinforcement learning for control, recurrent models for time traces and quantum information applications. He coauthored Modern Applications of Machine Learning in Quantum Sciences, first submitted in 2022. The work covers neural and kernel methods for quantum states, feedback control and circuit optimization.
