José Mauro Volkmer de Castilho
José Mauro Volkmer de Castilho was a Brazilian researcher whose work connected artificial intelligence with database systems. He studied engineering at UFRGS, earned graduate degrees at PUC-Rio, and became a full professor at UFRGS. His papers addressed complementary specifications, temporal database frameworks, and case-based reasoning in geology. He died in 1998, and the SBBD has selected papers at each edition to compete for an award bearing his name since 1998; in 2024, six of 50 papers accepted for presentation were selected to compete for the prize.
Timeline
-
