Mike Krieger
As of October 2026, Mike Krieger is Head of Anthropic Labs at Anthropic. At Stanford, he studied Symbolic Systems and met Kevin Systrom through the Mayfield Fellows program. They launched Instagram in late 2010; Krieger served as its CTO, and Facebook acquired it for $1 billion in 2012 before he resigned in 2018. With Systrom, he created Artifact, an AI-driven news discovery platform Yahoo acquired in April 2024; he joined Anthropic as Chief Product Officer in May 2024. In July 2025, he spoke for Anthropic on a healthcare data-sharing pledge that supports conversational AI, and TIME included him in its 2025 TIME100 AI list.

Before Instagram launches in late 2010, he works at Meebo as a user experience designer and front-end engineer.

Co-founding Instagram
He and Kevin Systrom launch Instagram, a photo-sharing service for iPhone, in late 2010. As its co-founder and CTO, he helps grow the engineering team to over 450 people and Instagram to more than a billion users; Facebook acquires the company for $1 billion in 2012, and he resigns in 2018.

In April 2024, Yahoo acquires Artifact, an AI-driven news discovery platform created by Krieger and Kevin Systrom.

Joining Anthropic
In May 2024, he joins Anthropic as Chief Product Officer, overseeing product engineering, product management, and product design as the company brings Claude to a wider audience.

In July 2025, he speaks for Anthropic in its CMS Health Tech Ecosystem pledge supporting conversational AI and healthcare data sharing. TIME includes him among its 2025 TIME100 AI Innovators.
