Oliver Zhang
Oliver Zhang is managing director of the Center for AI Safety (CAIS), whose stated mission is to reduce societal-scale risks from artificial intelligence. He co-founded ML Alignment Theory Scholars (MATS) before helping found CAIS with Dan Hendrycks in 2022. CAIS published the Statement on AI Risk in May 2023. A tax return filed in November 2023 listed him as treasurer, and another filed in June 2025 listed him as managing director.
