Hao Ying
Hao Ying is a professor of electrical and computer engineering whose fuzzy-control work includes biomedical applications. He earned a B.S. in electrical engineering at Donghua University in 1982 and an M.S. in computer engineering there in 1984, then completed a biomedical engineering Ph.D. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1990. He published Fuzzy Control and Modeling in 2000 and co-originated fuzzy discrete event systems in 2001. He became an IEEE Fellow in 2012, coauthored a type-2 fuzzy logic control book in 2014, and delivered a model-free fuzzy-control keynote at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, where he also received the IEEE CIS Fuzzy Systems Pioneer Award. He is a professor at Wayne State, where his 2026 coauthored work includes LLM-driven multimodal knowledge graph construction for an industrial process using prompt optimization and fuzzy RAG.
