Tetyana Baydyk
Also known as Tatiana Baidyk, Байдик Тетяна Миколаївна
Tetyana Baydyk is a researcher whose neural-network and image-recognition work links micromechanics with renewable energy and medical imaging. She earned an electrical-engineering master’s degree in Kyiv and doctorates in mobile-robot control and neural networks, then worked in Ukrainian research and science education before joining UNAM’s ICAT. At ICAT, she develops image-recognition methods and neural classifiers for micromechanics, computer-vision control for micromachine tools, and applications for solar concentrators; she also coauthored a book on intelligent automation in renewable energy. Her studies examine neural classifiers for solar-concentrator components, microfilters, and blood-cell images. She held SNI Level I in 2009 and from 2014 through 2026, with Level II status from 2010 to 2013, and is an Investigator Titular C at ICAT.

Timeline
-
1954–1999
Education and early research
Born in 1954, she earns a master's degree in electrical engineering at Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1977. At the Institute of Cybernetics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, she earns a Ph.D. in control systems for mobile robots in 1983 and a Doctor of Sciences in neural networks in 1994. Beginning in 1980, she works as a junior researcher and then researcher at the institute; from 1995 to 1999, she coordinates Ukraine's science and education program for the International Renaissance Foundation.
-
2001
Image recognition at UNAM
In 2001, she joins UNAM's ICAT as an Investigator Titular A in the Microtechnology and Neural Networks group. Her research develops image-recognition methods and neural classifiers for micromechanics, with computer-vision control systems for micromachine tools and applications for solar concentrators.
-
2009–2026
SNI researcher levels
She holds SNI Level I in 2009, Level II status from 2010 to 2013, and Level I status from 2014 through 2026.
-
2017
Neural classifiers for solar concentrators
In 2017, she coauthors a study of neural classifiers for recognizing microcomponents of solar concentrators.
-
2019
Intelligent automation in renewable energy
With Ernst Kussul and Donald Wunsch, she coauthors Intelligent Automation in Renewable Energy, a Springer book published in 2019.
-
2025
A 3D-printed microfilter
In 2025, she coauthors a study that presents a microfilter structure and model, and examines how to simplify the structure for newer production methods. It uses a 3D printer to make the prototype and describes possible applications in chemical microreactors.
-
2026
Neural networks for blood-cell images
In 2026, with Airam Curtidor and Graciela Velasco Herrera, she coauthors a study that applies neural networks to detect and classify white blood cells in microscopic images of peripheral blood smears.
-
Since April 2018
Investigator Titular C at ICAT
She serves as an Investigator Titular C in UNAM's Microtechnology and Neural Networks group at ICAT, a post she takes in 2012. Her current appointment at UNAM's Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology begins in April 2018 and remains active in 2026.
