Jayavardhana Gubbi
Also known as Jay Gubbi, J Gubbi
Jayavardhana Gubbi is a researcher in computer vision and sensing whose 2013 overview of the Internet of Things has more than 19,000 citations on Google Scholar. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Bangalore University in 2000 and a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2007 with Marimuthu Palaniswami as advisor. The 2013 paper, written with Rajkumar Buyya, Slaven Marusic and Palaniswami, was followed by a smart-city information framework in 2014 and by ChangeNet, a deep learning architecture for detecting visual changes between image pairs, in 2018. In 2020, he was a Senior Scientist at TCS Research and Innovation in Bengaluru, leading its Machine Vision group, and his 2025 and 2026 papers cover fashion item retrieval, diffusion-based attribute editing and EEG and ECG signal modeling. He is a Principal Scientist at TCS Research.
