Hannah Fry
Hannah Fry is a mathematician and public educator who explains how algorithms affect human decisions. She studied mathematics at UCL, completed a doctorate in fluid dynamics, and moved into mathematical modelling of social systems at CASA. Her book Hello World explains how algorithms influence choices, and she presented the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures in 2019. She received the Royal Society David Attenborough Award in 2024 and joined Cambridge in 2025 as its first Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics. She won a 2025 Emmy, hosted AI interviews for Google DeepMind, and presented AI Confidential and received the Leelavati Prize in 2026; as of October 2026, she is Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at Cambridge.
