Rüdiger Dillmann
Also known as Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Dillmann, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rüdiger Dillmann
Rüdiger Dillmann is a robotics researcher whose work brings learning into humanoid and service robots. He studied electrical engineering with a focus on biocybernetics at Karlsruhe and habilitated on learning robots before taking a robotics professorship there in 1987. From 2001, he directed FZI's Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering division and coordinated a DFG program on learning humanoid robots; in 2008 he founded KIT's Humanoids and Intelligence Systems Laboratories. He became an IEEE Fellow in 2012, chaired ICRA in 2013, and coauthored a 2023 paper on HoLLiE C, a robot for care applications. As of October 2026, he directs research in FZI's Intelligent Systems and Production Engineering division.
