Yun Raymond Fu
Yun Raymond Fu researches machine learning, computer vision and pattern recognition. His shared work includes guided attention and visual learning for image understanding. Fu was an assistant professor at Buffalo from 2010 to 2012 and joined Northeastern’s faculty in 2012. He completed graduate training in Illinois. Fu founded Giaran and served as its president; the company developed neural-network-based augmented reality and facial-image processing. Shiseido acquired Giaran in 2017. With Kunpeng Li, Ziyan Wu, Kuan-Chuan Peng and Jan Ernst, Fu co-authored a CVPR 2018 paper on guided attention inference. It puts attention maps into end-to-end training and supplies self-guidance for tasks such as semantic segmentation.
