Bimal K. Bose
Also known as Bimal Kumar Bose, B. K. Bose
Bimal Bose is an electrical engineer whose research applied expert systems, fuzzy logic and neural networks to power electronics and motor drives. He studied at Bengal Engineering College, earned graduate degrees at Wisconsin and Calcutta, and worked at Rensselaer, General Electric and the University of Tennessee. At Tennessee, he held the Condra Chair of Excellence and worked on AI control and estimation for power electronic systems. His publications include a 1994 paper on AI tools for motion control and a 2007 paper on neural-network applications in power electronics and motor drives. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2017, he is an emeritus professor and consultant in power electronics as of October 2026.
