Ole Winther
Ole Winther works on statistical machine learning. His research applies probabilistic modeling to biological data, neuroinformatics and recommender systems. Winther earned a physics doctorate at Copenhagen in 1998. He also held postdoctoral positions at Lund and DTU’s Center for Biological Sequence Analysis. Winther develops machine-learning methods for bioinformatics, neuroinformatics and recommendations. Its collaborative-filtering example uses user preferences to learn personalized movie suggestions. Winther coauthored NetStart 2.0. The project uses a protein language model to predict eukaryotic translation initiation sites.
