Essam H. Houssein

Also known as Essam Halim Houssein

Essam H. Houssein is a professor of artificial intelligence whose work spans parallel optimization algorithms and quantum models for medical imaging and cancer classification. He earned a computer science Ph.D. in 2012 and coauthored papers on whale optimization, quantum COVID-19 imaging, and quantum gene selection. In 2023, he was selected as a Highly Cited Researcher, and in 2026 he co-edited a book on deep learning and computer vision in biomedical applications. As of October 2026, he is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Dean of Minia University's Faculty of Computers and Information, and he chairs the Artificial Intelligence Research Group in Egypt.
