Charles A. Rosen

Charles A. Rosen was part of the SRI team behind Shakey. The project joined visual sensing, reasoning, and movement in an early mobile AI robot. Rosen and his team developed Shakey from 1966 to 1972. Their work aimed to let a mobile robot carry out a task without instructions for every individual step. SRI’s project history describes Shakey using a camera, detectors, and other sensors to interpret its surroundings, navigate, and reason about actions.
