Michael A. Unser
Also known as Michaël Unser
Michael Unser is a full professor at EPFL and academic director of its Center for Imaging. His work on splines reaches neural networks, a link he presented in a 2022 IEEE webinar. He earned electrical engineering degrees at EPFL in 1981 and 1984, then began bioimaging research at the National Institutes of Health in 1985. A deep convolutional network for inverse problems in imaging, which he co-authored, was published in 2017. In 2025 he received the Norbert Wiener Society Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
