Ying Wei
Also known as 魏颖, 魏穎
Ying Wei studies transfer learning, meta-learning, lifelong learning, and AI for science. She completed a bachelor's degree in automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2012, with first class honor, and in July 2017 defended the thesis Heterogeneous Transfer Learning at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with Qiang Yang as supervisor and support from the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship. From November 2017 to January 2021 she was a senior researcher at the Machine Learning Center of Tencent AI Lab, and in 2018 she published Learning to Transfer with Yu Zhang, Junzhou Huang and Qiang Yang. She joined the Department of Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong as an assistant professor in February 2021, served as a Nanyang Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, and in May 2024 shared an ICLR honorable mention for Meta Continual Learning Revisited with Yichen Wu, Long-Kai Huang, Renzhen Wang and Deyu Meng. As of October 2026, she is a ZJU-100 Young Professor in the College of Artificial Intelligence at Zhejiang University and principal investigator of the CompLife Lab.

From November 2017 to January 2021, she is a senior researcher at the Machine Learning Center of Tencent AI Lab. In 2018, with Yu Zhang, Junzhou Huang and Qiang Yang, she publishes Learning to Transfer at the International Conference on Machine Learning.
