Amir Sadik

Amir Sadik is a games tester at Google DeepMind whose name appears on three papers about game-playing and navigating AI agents. In February 2015, he was a co-author of the Nature paper on the deep Q-network, an agent that learned to play 49 classic Atari 2600 games at a level comparable to a professional human games tester, and he was among the authors who created its testing platform. He co-authored the DeepMind Lab paper in December 2016, which describes a first-person 3D game platform for AI research. In May 2018, he served as the human expert tester for a Nature paper on grid-like representations that help artificial agents navigate.

Timeline

  1. February 2015

    Co-authoring the DQN paper

In February 2015, he is a co-author of the Nature paper "Human-level control through deep reinforcement learning" from Google DeepMind in London. In it, a deep Q-network agent learns to play 49 classic Atari 2600 games at a level comparable to a professional human games tester.

  2. 2015

    The Atari testing platform

On the deep Q-network project in 2015, he is one of nine authors credited with creating the testing platform.

  3. December 2016

    Author of DeepMind Lab

In December 2016, he is among the authors of DeepMind Lab, a first-person 3D game platform designed for research and development of general artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.

  4. 2018

    Human expert tester for navigation

In May 2018, he co-authors the Nature paper "Vector-based navigation using grid-like representations in artificial agents" with DeepMind colleagues, and serves as its human expert tester. In the paper, agents endowed with grid-like representations surpass an expert human and comparison agents.

  5. As of October 2026

    Games tester at Google DeepMind

He is a games tester at Google DeepMind.
