Clinton Fookes

Also known as C Fookes, C. FOOKES, C. Fookes, Clinton B. Fookes

Clinton Fookes is a computer-vision and machine-learning researcher whose work spans video analysis, biometrics and biosignal processing. He won Queensland's Young Tall Poppy award in 2009 and the Australian Museum Eureka Prize People's Choice Award in 2010 for computer-vision research with security applications. His work includes an attention-based LSTM for pedestrian prediction and abnormal-event detection in 2017, followed by a biosignal domain-generalization method in 2020. In 2020, he served as SmartSat's Artificial Intelligence Theme Leader and a QUT professor in Vision & Signal Processing, with qualifications in aerospace and avionics engineering, an MBA and a PhD in computer vision. IAPR and ATSE elected him a Fellow in 2024, and as of October 2026 he is Head of School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics at QUT, Professor in Vision & Signal Processing, and director of the SAIVT Lab.
