Nicolas Gisin
Nicolas Gisin is a physicist at the University of Geneva whose quantum-communication work reaches AI through a 2019 preprint that uses neural networks as numerical tools for studying quantum nonlocality. He completed a physics doctorate at the University of Geneva in 1981 and joined the Group of Applied Physics in 1988 as head of its optics section. In 2003 the Geneva team achieved the first long-distance quantum teleportation over telecom optical fibers, and he was one of the founders of ID Quantique. He received the first John Stewart Bell Prize in 2009 and the Marcel-Benoist Prize in 2014, and he shared the Micius Quantum Prize with John Rarity in 2024. As of October 2026 he is an honorary professor at the University of Geneva.
