Carsten Lutz
Carsten Lutz is a computer scientist whose AI work connects logic with knowledge representation and graph neural networks. After researching at the University of Bremen from 2008, he moved to Leipzig in April 2022 to lead a group on the foundations of knowledge representation. He received an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2015, became a EurAI Fellow in 2016, and coauthored An Introduction to Description Logic in 2017. At KR 2026, he was an invited speaker on the logical expressive power of graph neural networks, and his paper with Marvin Grosser won the Ray Reiter Best Paper Award. As of October 2026, he is Professor of Computer Science at Leipzig University.
