Carl Vondrick
Carl Vondrick researches machine perception and computer vision. His group investigates models that learn from large amounts of unlabelled data across tasks and modalities. Vondrick earned a bachelor’s degree at UC Irvine in 2011 and an MIT doctorate advised by Antonio Torralba in 2017. Deva Ramanan was an early research mentor. He received an NSF CAREER Award in 2021 and the PAMI Young Researcher Award in 2024. His research centres on learning robust visual representations. His group studies models that learn from unlabelled observations and transfer across tasks and modalities. Related interests include robotics, interpretable models, sound and language.
