Milind Tambe
Milind Tambe researches agents, teamwork and multiagent decision making. His research includes flexible teamwork in 1997 and later office-assistant agents. With Pragnesh Jay Modi, Wei-Min Shen and Makoto Yokoo he contributed to ADOPT distributed optimization in 2005. His team applied security-game methods through ARMOR at Los Angeles airport from 2007, when AAAI elected him a Fellow. Later collaborations include conservation and public-health projects from 2013. At Harvard, he leads Teamcore and computation-and-society research.

Timeline
-
1997
Flexible teamwork
Tambe published Towards Flexible Teamwork in 1997 as an early part of his multiagent work. His research includes models of team behavior and later office-assistant agents. These systems raised questions about cooperation, autonomy and privacy in shared environments.
-
2005
Shared distributed optimization
Tambe contributed to ADOPT with Pragnesh Jay Modi, Wei-Min Shen and Makoto Yokoo. The 2005 paper explains asynchronous distributed optimization through conservative local cost estimates.
-
2007
Security games and AI recognition
ARMOR was deployed at Los Angeles airport in 2007. It used game-theoretic algorithms for randomized security scheduling. AAAI elected him a Fellow that year.

2013 and later projects
Conservation and public-health collaboration
Tambe’s PAWS conservation and public-health work began in 2013. These are collaborations with nonprofits and other researchers, using learning and decision methods to direct limited resources. At Harvard, he leads Teamcore and computation-and-society research.
