Maks Ovsjanikov
Maks Ovsjanikov is a computer scientist whose work develops learning methods for geometric 3D data. He earned a PhD in mathematical and computer engineering at Stanford in 2011, worked on image and 3D shape analysis at Google, and joined École Polytechnique’s LIX lab in 2012. His 2012 paper “Functional Maps” presents a flexible representation of maps between shapes; he received the Eurographics Young Researcher Award in 2014 and the CNRS Bronze Medal in 2018. He received an ERC Consolidator Grant for VEGA in 2023, a project on transfer learning for geometric data, and is a professor at École Polytechnique and a Visiting Research Scientist at Google DeepMind.
