Researcher

Hani Hagras

Hani Hagras is an AI researcher whose work spans type-2 fuzzy systems, embedded agents, and explainable AI. He earned electrical engineering degrees at Alexandria and a computer science PhD at Essex, where he became Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Director of the Computational Intelligence Centre. He co-founded Logical Glue in 2012; Temenos acquired the explainable AI platform in 2019, and his fuzzy-logic work on iPatch won Essex's Best Research Impact award in 2017. A 2022 paper applies temporal type-2 fuzzy logic to time-dependent explainable AI; he received the IEEE CIS Pioneer Award on Fuzzy Systems in 2026 and is Chief AI Officer and Head of Product, AI Platform at SBS.

Timeline
