Jonny Holmström

Also known as Jonny Holmstrom

Jonny Holmström is an information systems professor at Umeå University whose work examines digital innovation and organizational AI. He earned a PhD in Informatics at Umeå in 2000, received the Skytteanska Society's prize for young researchers in 2005, and co-founded the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation in 2013. With Johan Magnusson and Magnus Mähring, he examined SCDI's engaged-scholarship work in a 2021 paper; he published an AI readiness framework in 2022 and coauthored a paper with Noel Carroll on organizational generative AI in 2025. He published AI Innovation in Business with Routledge in 2026; as of October 2026, he is a professor at Umeå University's Department of Informatics and Centre for Transdisciplinary AI, director and co-founder of SCDI, and coordinator of Umeå's AI Management focus area.
